I drew this fruit fly for fun, since it had already been described and was somewhat common. The flies were hatching out in the Curatorial Assistant's drawer at Cal Academy. I sketched it while alive, in colored pencil. Since its color changed dramatically after it died, I had a reference for my final drawing.
